Browse & Download Decks from Home

Add a deck library to the app’s Home screen so learners can discover, preview, and download community decks directly. Organize decks into clear categories and support pagination, sorting, and filters such as language, CEFR level, and topic. This should make it easy to find a useful deck, see what is inside, and add it to the learner’s wordbook.

Learn Vocabulary from Songs (Shazam & mixmatch but for education)

Let learners bring in song lyrics or other lyric text and discover useful words and expressions that match their learning level. They can select what they want and loot it into a deck. A later extension could add listening practice: hide selected words and let learners fill them in while listening.

Say It Better

Let learners write a sentence in their target language and receive a more natural or expressive alternative at an appropriate level. Explain the important vocabulary and expression improvements, then let learners loot useful suggested words or phrases. For example, a basic German sentence could become a more natural B1/B2-level expression with a clear explanation of the difference.

Word Builder

Add a Scrabble-style game where learners receive letters and build words from vocabulary they have already learned. Integrate it with Vocabloot’s existing games and practice system so the activity reinforces the learner’s own wordbook rather than becoming a separate game.

Daily Crossword

Generate a short daily crossword using words the learner has already looted or is currently learning. Keep each puzzle to about 5–8 words so it works as a quick, satisfying daily review activity.

How Do I Say This? Quick Vocabulary Capture

Let learners quickly type or speak something they wanted to say in their target language but did not know how to express. Vocabloot returns the word or phrase, then lets them save its translation and conversational context directly to their loot or deck. Example: “How do I say extension cord in German?” → Verlängerungskabel.

Expand Words with Synonyms & Antonyms

When viewing a looted word, show CEFR-appropriate synonyms, antonyms, and closely related words. Let learners choose which useful suggestions to loot instead of adding everything automatically. Example for schnell: synonyms rasch and zügig; antonym langsam; related words Geschwindigkeit and beschleunigen. This can later grow into a visual word network.

Scan Text & Loot Vocabulary

Let learners photograph or scan text from books, articles, menus, signs, and more. Vocabloot uses OCR to surface words in context so learners can tap unfamiliar words, see their meaning, and loot selected words directly into a deck. Flow: scan → detect text and words → tap/select unknown words → see meaning and context → loot to deck.
